In between racing the NRC Robin Carpenter joins us for the podcast. He is a rider for the Holowesko/Citadel p/b Hincapie racing team. Originally from Philadelphia, where he raced collegiate and pro, he moved to La Jolla with his girlfriend. She is studying to get her Phd in Biology while he spends his time racing on the national circuit and living in La Jolla. We discuss his rise to the top and his incredible win at the USA Pro Challenge in the stage from Aspen to Crested Butte. He talks about the development of his team and makes some comparisons between domestic racing and European racing. He talks about this years Tour of California (15th place) where he tried to get away in many breaks and nearly was able to until Peter Sagan went to take a piss at the wrong time. There may come a time where he must choose between getting a world tour contract or staying with the team that has seen him develop and grow as a rider. As his strengths lie in stage racing, he is one of the major up and coming riders out of the United States. Robin represents the highest level of cycling in the United States yet is extremely humble, intelligent and someone worth admiring and cheering for. Having the chance to talk with Robin is why this podcast exists. Listen and be inspired to live better!
